Daniel Montgomery

Daniel worked for some of the big firms to start his career, including positions with PwC and Whitley Penn. His first boss focused on oil and gas, and so has Daniel ever since. “I’ve been fascinated with the industry,” says Daniel, “I was extremely lucky to work in a career and focus on an industry that I love. It makes going to the office easy because I truly enjoy working with my clients. ”

Daniel came to Gollob Morgan Peddy in 2012. He is now the Partner in charge of the firm’s Oil and Gas Division. Daniel is heavily involved in tax-planning strategies for his corporate and high-worth-individuals and strives to properly structure groups and deals to minimize tax exposure. Daniel displays expertise in partnership tax structures due to the industries he serves, as most oil and gas and real estate deals are done through partnerships.

We are proud of the work Daniel has done for GMP, but we are even more proud of what he did before arriving here. Daniel is an eight-year veteran of the U.S. Army and Army Reserve. He served two tours of duty in Iraq and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service during ground combat operations against enemy forces in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In 2003 he served as a team leader on the construction of a 220-mile pipeline during the invasion in southern Iraq. In 2005 he served as the NCO in charge of multiple construction projects, such as the renovation of buildings, runways, and barracks in and around Ramadi and Tikrit, Iraq.

Daniel and his wife, Wendy, have two daughters, Sophia and Sydney, and one son, Ryan. They are active members of First United Methodist Church in Chandler, TX. Between baseball games and dance recitals, Daniel enjoys traveling. He hopes to one day have the honor of visiting the Normandy beaches. Daniel enjoys playing recreational sports when time permits and plays on GMP’s softball team. When football season arrives, Daniel and Ryan will most often be found in front of a big screen pulling for the Dallas Cowboys.
